I’m not getting too crazy with this post, week 13 kind of took the piss out of me. Byron kindly grabbed us an Australian sharp cheddar for our getting caught up on John Oliver night. I did get this gem of a quote though (context: my computer was pooping out in the middle of the episode):

Me: I hate to even say these words out loud, but should we try Internet Explorer (instead of Chrome)? Dominic: Internet Explorer is the equivalent to walking into a bath house and having sex with everyone without a condom.

Needless to say we didn’t switch to IE.

Old Croc Sharp Cheddar: This was the first cheese from Australian that I’ve tried, and this cheese

was as bold and biting as I imagine the Australian outback to be. The cheese wasn’t bad per say, I’ve yet to have a cheese yet that I thought was inedible, but there was a distinct flavor that was off putting, for my palate anyway. I sat for a long time, chewing, rolling around my taste buds, going through my mental rolodex of adjectives, trying to find the one that perfectly fit this cheese’s flavor. The best I could come up with was sour. Byron threw the word bitter out there. Neither quite pin it down though. I thought after doing some research on the web I’d find that magical describer I was missing, but in the end I really didn't.

I found that I did really like the cheese paired with a rice cracker (which holy shit, these are my new obsession)

and quince. The sweetness of the quince mixed with the sharpness of the cheddar balanced out the flavors very well.
