Week 15 – Kasey’s birthday!

Last Saturday the some of the Hawaii gang got together at Laurelhurst Park to celebrate Kasey’s birthday, and to eat, drink, and be merry. I’ve been to Laurelhurst Park before, but this was the first time that I really ventured through the whole park and I had no idea how big and beautiful it is! For anyone that hasn’t been there, it’s assumingly located between two major streets and a residential neighborhood, and is much larger than the view from the street lets on.

When I first moved to Portland it was mid-June, the sun was a blazin’, and I remember asking my friend, “Is that what people do here? Sit and hang out in parks?” (Not like going and spending the day sitting on the beach is any different, I don’t know why I thought that was such a weird sight.) But yes, that’s what peeps do here.

First time I got to bust out my Wine2Go that I got for my birthday, someone knows me too well…

What do you do with a bottle of wine and no bottle opener? Get creative!

Happy birthday Kasey! (Sorry I didn’t really take any photos of you!)

I put together a beautiful cheese plate for the event, but I made a stupid mistake and brought two cheeses I’ve already reviewed, an Irish cheddar (week 10), and a Swiss Gruyere (week 2). I knew I already reviewed the cheddar, but since I already had some I brought it along, and I stopped at the store to pick up the second cheese, thinking that Gruyere and Swiss Gruyere are two different kinds. They are not. Rookie mistake. Sooo I kind of screwed you guys out a post this week. Sorry guys. The upside is this gets me almost caught up. So, I vow to do another cheese night this week, and finally get caught back up.
